President

Rodney D. Fanning, PE, CEM

Rodney joined LPA in 1994. His attention to detail, dedicated work ethic, and communication skills, moved him quickly into the role of project manager. In 2010, Rodney became Vice President and a Principal owner. In 2020 Rodney became President.  His diverse system design experience has been utilized to the fullest as he oversees a large portion of our projects and collaborates with our entire ME design team. Outside of the office Rodney enjoys spending time with his family, attending sporting events, and playing golf.

Vice President

Richard (Rick) C. Hughes, P.E.

Rick has played an active role in LPA’s success since joining the firm in 2009. He became a Principal and Vice President in the firm in December 2013. His extensive experience in project management, design, analysis, and commissioning of mechanical systems makes him a valued asset to the firm and our clients. Rick’s experience includes the performance of building modeling, economic and energy analysis, feasibility studies, as well as planning design and preparation of contract documents for facilities throughout VA. He also has extensive experience in General Construction Practices and the Design/Build Process.

Electrical Department Manager

Winston A. Matthews, P.E.

Winston has proven to be an integral part of the firm since joining LPA in 2012.   With his extensive experience in electrical systems and his ability to successfully manage projects and project teams, he was promoted to Electrical Department Manager in 2018.   Through his dedication to ensuring continual company growth, providing high quality work, and his ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients and vendors, he was named a Principal in 2019.  Winston enjoys playing golf, traveling the world with his wife, and cheering on the Hokies at sporting events.
