Jeff’s career with LPA began in 1983, when he interned during breaks as an engineering student at Virginia Tech. A full-time member of the firm since 1986, Jeff has been involved in the high-performance design and analysis of mechanical systems for over twenty-five years. As Project Engineer, Project Manager, and Principal in Charge for many of the firm’s projects, Jeff has developed an extensive working knowledge of a wide variety of building system types and continues to set the standard for education, awareness, and design of energy efficient systems. Jeff was appointed Vice President of the firm in 1991. He served in this capacity until 2003, when he became President/Owner. In his free time, Jeff enjoys time with his family, golf, hiking, and attending athletic events.

Rodney D. Fanning, PE, CEM

Rodney joined LPA in 1994. His attention to detail, dedicated work ethic, and communication skills, moved him quickly into the role of project manager. In 2010, Rodney became Vice President and a Principal owner. His diverse system design experience has been utilized to the fullest as he oversees a large portion of our projects and collaborates with our entire ME design team. Outside of the office Rodney enjoys spending time with his family, attending sporting events, and playing golf.

Richard (Rick) C. Hughes, P.E.

Rick has played an active role in LPA’s success since joining the firm in 2009. He became a Principal and Vice President in the firm in December 2013. His extensive experience in project management, design, analysis, and commissioning of mechanical systems makes him a valued asset to the firm and our clients. Rick’s experience includes the performance of building modeling, economic and energy analysis, feasibility studies, as well as planning design and preparation of contract documents for facilities throughout VA. He also has extensive experience in General Construction Practices and the Design/Build Process.
